Those who didn’t want to deal their cards passed the buck to the next player. Today, the term is used to mean “passing responsibility” in the poker world. In 1973, the World Series of Poker was televised, and it quickly became a popular spectator sport.

In blackjack, a player is allowed to shuffle the deck more than once, while a player with a high hand can cut a deck multiple times. The dealer in a casino always keeps the same button position.
