Slot

a) In computers, an opening or place for insertion of an expansion card that adds some circuitry, such as video acceleration, sound control or disk drive capability. Most desktop computers come with a number of expansion slots.

b) In casinos, the total value of coins or tokens removed from a slot machine’s drop bucket or drop box for counting by the casino’s hard count team through the use of a weigh scale. A weight count is a standard procedure used to detect any manipulation of the game’s machines.

In games, a symbol that substitutes for most other symbols in a slot (similar to a joker card). The way wild symbols behave depend on the specific game and whether the player is in a bonus or free games mode. Wilds may only appear on certain reels, or have a chance to “stack” across the entire reel. Sometimes, players can even win a jackpot with a single wild symbol!
