What is a Slot?
1. A hole or opening; a slit: He slotted the new filter into place. 2. A position, place, time, or opportunity: Visitors can book a time slot a week or more in advance.
3. The area on a computer or game machine where a coin is inserted, or a paper ticket with a barcode and barcode strip is scanned: The barcode scanner reads the code and deposits credit into the slot.
In video slots, players can choose from several themes and symbols to play with. Some games have multiple paylines that allow for a variety of winning combinations, and some even have bonus rounds. A gamer’s choice of options can greatly affect their chances of success, so it is important to choose the right game for them.
Slots are dynamic placeholders that either wait for content (passive slots) or call out to it via a scenario (active slots). Scenarios use the ACC to deliver content to a slot and specify how to display that content. They also work in conjunction with renderers to present content on a page. In the context of offer management, it is not recommended to feed a slot using more than one scenario, because this can lead to unpredictable results.
